Dire Straits Communique Lyrics and Tracklist
Mark Knopfler
Communique is the Dire Strait’s Album (see the anachronistic word of the day) I return to on long interstate road trips (see Route 40 for instance).  Remember when we traveled prior to the current human condition?  We know, by now, that Mark Knopfler is the most cinematic guitarist living today (see that ever lived).  Anyone in doubt, listen to one of his earliest soundtracks for the brilliant Forsyth Scottish film, Local Hero or The Princess Bride. Later he composed and played the soundtrack for Wag the Dog and the Kingsman.

Knopfler was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and raised in Blyth, near Newcastle in England, from the age of seven. After graduating from the University of Leeds and working for three years as a college lecturer, Knopfler co-founded Dire Straits with his younger brother, David Knopfler.

Where Do You Think You’re Going – Dire Straits

Where do you think you’re going?
Don’t you know it’s dark outside?
Where do you think you’re going?
Don’t you care about my pride?
Where do you think you’re going?
I think you don’t know
You got no way of knowing
There’s really no place you can go

I understand your changes
Long before you reach the door
I know where you think you’re going
I know what you came here for
And now I’m sick of jocking
I know I like you to be free
Where do you think you’re going?
I think you better go with me girl

You say there is no reason
But you still find cause to doubt me
If you ain’t with me girl
You’re gonna be without me

Where do you think you’re going?
Don’t you know it’s dark outside?
Where do you think you’re going?
Don’t you care about my pride?
And now I’m sick of jocking
I know I like you to be free
Where do you think you’re going?
I think you better go with me girl …
