Crowded House – Don’t Dream It’s Over Live (HQ)

Crowded House – Don’t Dream It’s Over. A very emotional last song from their farewell tour. So sad, Paul Hester is in tears. One of the best songs were ever written. Thought I’d upload a decent quality version because the other videos on here don’t do the song or the performance justice. Go and buy the DVD folks, you won’t regret it! Recorded November 24th, 1996

Crowded House – Don’t Dream It’s Over (Official Music Video)

Lyrics
… There is freedom within
There is freedom without
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup
There’s a battle ahead
Many battles are lost
But you’ll never see the end of the road
While you’re traveling with me
… Hey now, hey now
Don’t dream it’s over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won’t win
… Now I’m towing my car
There’s a hole in the roof
My possessions are causing me suspicion
But there’s no proof
In the paper today
Tales of war and of waste
But you turn right over to the TV page
… Hey now, hey now
Don’t dream it’s over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won’t win
… Now I’m walking again
To the beat of a drum
And I’m counting the steps to the door of your heart
Only shadows ahead
Barely clearing the roof
Get to know the feeling of liberation and release
… Hey now, hey now
Don’t dream it’s over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
You know they won’t win
… Don’t let them win (Hey now, hey now)
Hey now, hey now
Hey now, hey now
Don’t let them win (They come, they come)
Don’t let them win (Hey now, hey now), yeah
Hey now, hey now

Crowded House Audio Culture

Crowded House is a rock band formed in Melbourne in 1985. Its founding members were New Zealander Neil Finn (vocalist, guitarist, primary songwriter) and Australians Paul Hester (drums), and Nick Seymour (bass). Later band members included Neil Finn’s brother, Tim Finn, and Americans Mark Hart and Matt Sherrod. The current line-up comprises Finn’s sons Elroy and Liam and the American keyboard player Mitchell Froom. Neil Finn and Nick Seymour have been the sole constant members of the group since its formation.

From 1985 to 1996, Crowded House enjoyed consistent commercial and critical success in New Zealand and Australia and international chart success. Further international success came in the UK, Europe, and South Africa with their third and fourth albums (Woodface and Together Alone) and the compilation album Recurring Dream, which included the hits “Fall at Your Feet,” “Weather with You,” “Distant Sun,” “Locked Out,” “Instinct” and “Not the Girl You Think You Are.” Neil and Tim Finn were each awarded an OBE in June 1993 for their contributions to the music of New Zealand.

In June 1996, Crowded House announced that it would disband. The band played several farewell concerts that year, including Melbourne and Sydney’s “Farewell to the World” concerts. On 26 March 2005, Hester died by suicide, aged 46.  In 2006, the group re-formed with drummer Matt Sherrod and released two further albums (in 2007 and 2010), each of which reached number one on Australia’s album chart. After several years of inactivity, Crowded House announced a UK tour in 2020. The new line-up features Neil Finn, Nick Seymour, Mitchell Froom, and Finn’s sons Liam and Elroy. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the band’s planned postponed all 2020 shows.

Crowded House – Mean To Me

Unchained Dogs
Portrait of Cat up close by Franklin Crawford
Lyrics
She came all the way from America
She had a blind date with destiny
And the sound of Te Awamutu
Had a truly sacred ring
Now her parents
Are divorced
And her friend’s committing suicide
I could not escape
A plea from the heart
You know what it means to me
She said don’t walk away
I’m down on my knees
Oh please don’t be mean to me
So I talked to you for an hour
In the bar of a small town hotel
And you asked me what I was thinking
I was thinking of a padded cell
With a black and white T.V.
To stop us from getting lonely
I could not escape
A plea from the heart
You know what it means to me
You said don’t walk away
I’m down on my knees
So please don’t be mean to me
You know I could not escape
A plea from the heart
Mysterious sympathy
Couldn’t wait for a chance
Walk out the door
You know what it means to me
Hey… ey
I saw you lying in the arms of a poet
I
I heard him tell you ta… tantalizing
Lies
What d’ya know
Whaddya know
Not Much
In the arms of a poet
You know, you know what it means
In the arms of a poet
You know absolutely definitely
What it means baby
In the arms
The very big very powerful arms
You know, You know
You know what it means
You know, You know,
You know what it means
In the arms of a poet
Don’t you know you know what it means?

Lyrics
Walking ’round the room singing “Stormy Weather”
At 57 Mount Pleasant Street
Well it’s the same room, but everything’s different
You can fight the sleep, but not the dream
Things ain’t cookin’ in my kitchen
Strange affliction, wash over me
Julius Caesar and the Roman Empire
Couldn’t conquer the blue sky
Well, there’s a small boat made of china
It’s going nowhere on the mantlepiece
Well, do I lie like a loungeroom lizard
Or do I sing like a bird released?
Everywhere you go, always take the weather with you
Everywhere you go, always take the weather
Everywhere you go, always take the weather with you
Everywhere you go, always take the weather, the weather with you
Everywhere you go, always take the weather with you
Everywhere you go, always take the weather
Everywhere you go, always take the weather with you
Everywhere you go, always take the weather, take the weather
The weather with you
Everywhere you go, always take the weather with you
Everywhere you go, always take the weather
Everywhere you go, always take the weather with you
Everywhere you go, always take the weather, take the weather
The weather with you

Consumer Reports Detailed Test Results Sound quality: The Edifier’s S1000MKII had Excellent overall sound quality. Bass has a good impact and goes deep, but is slightly prominent and boomy. The midrange is fairly even but is a touch grainy and hazy. Treble is extended and fairly detail but slightly prominent and a touch smeared. Does a good job of recovering room ambiance but is slightly congested. This two-speaker model comes as a stereo pair, and its sound stage width and focus depends on how it is placed. When well placed the sound field extends well above and to the sides of the speakers and has decent depth, and individual instruments and voices are identifiable and have a three-dimensional quality. Provides a decent volume level in a large-sized room. No significant difference between Bluetooth, optical, coax, and aux sound quality except bass is slightly less prominent with the Bluetooth input but can be matched to the others with a slight bass adjustment. There was no difference in sound quality between this model and the Edifier S1000DB it supersedes. Ease of use: We found the Edifier S1000MKII ease of use to be Very Good overall. Volume controls: The control is a labeled multi-function infinite-turn knob (volume & Input selector) which has a visual indicator on front of unit when max and min volume is reached. The volume control is not obvious due to its poor placement on the rear of the speaker. Switching sources: The source selector control is a labeled multi-function push button-knob that is clearly labeled. The control is not prominent (rear of unit), but uses ambiguous source selection indicators on the front of the unit. Wired setup: Is a 5 Din Pin cable provided for left/right interconnect of speakers, simply plugin, no prep needed. Bluetooth: The unit is always in pairing mode when not already paired when the Bluetooth input is selected, it lacks a pairing mode indicator and lacks an indicator when the pairing mode has occurred. Remote control: The volume controls are prominent +/- markings that lack index markings for volume levels, but have a visual indication when the max volume is reached on unit. The mute control is well marked, well placed, with clear indication when it is engaging, and mutes all inputs. The source selector has labeled buttons for all sources, but when selected the unit has ambiguous persistent source indicators on speaker display. The transport controls are obvious play/pause, skip only, no scan provision.
