Damien Rice comes to you via my personal Youtube journey last evening.
Did you know the Youtube Algorithm for Ben Howard + Trevor Hall=Damien Rice? No need to replicate; occasionally the algorithm brings a river of charms.
Damien Rice working with key collaborator Lisa Hannigan is now in the Durham Cool Mix. We know now of the creative turbulence that is currently keeping them on separate artistic paths. We are sad about this news. Lisa Hannigan is doing well on her own. Old news to you, new to us. Over 90 Million Youtube likes to tell us we are late to the party once again. Drama is something we effort to avoid but sometimes the lure of creative chemistry lures one in.
The creative chemistry of Lisa Hannigan and Damien on Volcano; a clear, simmering, palpable co-creation. The Lisa Hannigan contribution/collaboration with Damien Rice is sorely missed. We have a limited time with the videos on this page, as posters have warned. YouTube is removing these videos each day due to license expiration. Enjoy them while they last. Capture as much of this superior collaboration as you can.
An official statement read “After much thought and discussion Damien has decided that his professional relationship with Lisa Hannigan has run its creative course. As a result, Lisa will not be appearing at any of the upcoming live shows. Lisa is embarking on her own artistic endeavors and there are no plans for them to work together in the foreseeable future. The current band on tour at the moment are Damien Rice, Joel Shearer, Shane Fitzsimons, Tom Osander and Vyvienne Long.”

I skipped through the talking, but Hannigan and Rice have had a whirlwind relationship. They dated during the making of “O.” On tour, tensions rose and continued to get worse during the recording of “9.” The whole situation culminated with Rice firing her from a tour in 2007. In 2009, Rice opened up about what happened and how much he regretted it. He tried to reconnect with her, but she never responded to him. They haven’t talked since the night she left the tour.
Another great discovery which demonstrates why Damien Rice and Lisa hannigan’s creative, dynamic collaborations are so beautiful.
Damien Rice & Cantus Domus (It Takes a Lot to Know a Man) | One To One
It was in Oct. 2016, in Berlin, during Michelberger Music.
Between each show of the festival, we were kidnapping a person in the audience, which we were talking to a secret room where an artist was waiting.
Between the two of them, a unique experience: a One To One concert.

There is real wisdom in this interview. Listen closely to Damien’s analysis of his 6-year introspection of so-called negative events (see shadow work) and his realization (see awareness). This is a great example of an embodiment of Buddhist principals. Worthy of our attention.
