Tedeschi Trucks Band – It’s So Heavy (Live in Austin)
Forevergreen Extra: Susan Tedeschi & Derek Trucks – Calling
Swamp Family TV: Tedeschi Trucks Band 3/18/21 ‘The Fireside Sessions’ Preview
Susan’s plaintive vocal on this beautiful song is so heart-piercing good I was moved almost to tears listening to this on the drive home last evening. It is an indisputable fact that Susan is one of the great R&B/Blues, Gospel, Americana vocalists working today. The nation is indebted to musicians at this talent level. Music that you feel in your bones. The media focuses disproportionate attention on the husband of this dynamic band couple. Susan vocals and rhythm guitar is as important to the unique sound of TTB as Derek’s lead guitar solos. Derek is a beyond brilliant slide guitarist , a prodigy as a child, weaned on some of the best American hybrid music- see Allman Brothers. Derek is on every musician’s top 3 Americana guitarist’s lists for meritorious reasons. Derek knows Susan was a blues singer/guitar of note prior to joining forces with Derek to form TTB. Watching this band live it is readily apparent that Susan and Derek have an abundance of respect/love for one another and the entire Tedeschi Trucks band family.
Most know that Durham Cool has a soft spot for TTB and you will likely join us in this reverie (after listening to this song) if you have not already done so.
How do you listen to music in your car, at work or home?
