The Staves – Waiting On Me To Change [Live at Lafayette] Our new album ‘Good Woman’ is out now:

Lyrics:

Said you’re waiting on me to change What you doing that for When I said I’ll stay the same, same, same… Same guy I was before Keep the tide low Let the river flow I don’t need no alibi I’ll be fine I’ll change, I’ll change, I’ll change when I want to I’ll change, I’ll change, I’ll change when I want to Said you’re waiting on me to change What you doing that for You keep counting down the days, days, days… Til I shift, til I move, til I improve Til I give you more Keep the tide low Let the river flow I don’t need any alibi I’ll be fine I’ll change, I’ll change, I’ll change when I want to I’ll change, I’ll change, I’ll change when I want to I’ll change when I want to I’m the same, same, same Way, way, way I’ll change, I’ll change, I’ll change when I want to

The Staves came into my life via the musical VW road trip, Austin To Boston. They are a force of nature, harmonically potent.
The Staves, an indie folk trio of sisters, will perform a special worldwide live-streamed event on February 5, to celebrate the release date of their new album Good Woman. This will be The Staves first album in six years, written and recorded in a time of turmoil for the band – the end of relationships, the death of their beloved mother, and the birth of Emily’s first child.

Austin To Boston Trailer from Monoduo Films on Vimeo. Austin to Boston has so far introduced me to Ben Howard, Ben Lovett, the Staves, and Nathaniel Rateliff.  If you have not watched this incredible film, please remedy this immediately.  Your ears and heart will thank you over and over and over again. 5 old VW camper vans. 4 bands. 3 thousand miles. 2 weeks. 1 gloriously backward tour. The adventure starts after a fire-fuelled final night at Austin’s SXSW Music Festival, where the bands (Ben Howard, The Staves, Nathaniel Rateliff, Bear’s Den) pile into their rides and head northeast. They play everywhere from bars to barns, rooms to rooftops, packing out tiny venues, and wowing crowds with their unique sounds. But heavy rainstorms, multiple breakdowns, and cramped conditions remind them that to push through sometimes you need to pull together. Featuring Mumford & Sons’ Ben Lovett and narrated by Gill Landry this documentary is about a modern tour, done the old fashioned way.
